Ignacy Domeyko
He was a Polish geologist and a precursor of mining industry and education in Chile. He defended rights of native Americans and became an honorary citizen of Chile. He was awarded with honoris causa doctorate by the Jagiellonian University. He was friends with Adam Mickiewicz – a well known Polish poet.

Władysław Wagner
He was the first Pole to sail the world. He started his voyage in Gdynia when he was 19 years old. Throughout the expedition, he lost his yacht two times and hence sailed on three – Zjawa I, Zjawa II, Zjawa III. The World War II interrupted his travel. After its end, he couldn’t bear the communist regime in Poland and therefore he spent the rest of his life in emigration.
